Seed stock is the stage that decides the whole crop. A weak, uneven or improperly acclimatised batch brings high losses through all the months that follow.

So MICFOOD chose to run its own seed stage rather than buy from uncertain sources. The seed production procedure goes through every step: selecting broodstock, rearing larvae in controlled saline or brackish water, acclimatising them gradually into fresh water, and checking health, size and uniformity before despatch. That is what sets it apart from wild-caught seed: the farmer knows exactly where the batch came from and what it has been through.

Seed stock always comes with technical service: surveying and preparing the pond before stocking, transferring the farming procedure, and following the care process right through to harvest. For MICFOOD, selling seed is not a one-off sale but the start of a crop shared with the farmer.

01. Selecting broodstock

Acclimatising the seed stock and moving it gradually into fresh water before it leaves the hatchery.
