In aquaculture, sustainability is first of all a very concrete matter: whether the pond holds its water quality across many crops, whether the farmer earns steadily enough to stay in the trade, and whether the product keeps its standing in the market. Those three questions match the three pillars MICFOOD pursues.
In its own farming area, MICFOOD favours solutions that work with nature: stocking aquatic plants to shelter molting crabs, and using probiotics and water monitoring to control disease rather than leaning on chemicals. This keeps the pond bed and the water fit for later crops — something extractive farming cannot do.

1. An ecological farming environment
We stock aquatic plants in the pond to give crabs shelter and a natural food source, which helps them molt. Probiotics treat the water and automatic monitoring equipment keeps water quality under continuous control.
2. The farming community
We transfer technique to farming households in 10 provinces and cities nationwide. Technical support runs through the whole crop, from survey and pond design to care and harvest. Buying back standard-grade product removes market risk for the farmer.
3. Quality & science
Strategic cooperation with the University of Natural Sciences, the Vietnam National University of Agriculture and Nha Trang University. MICFOOD aquaculture engineers work directly in the aquatic pathology laboratory to refine the farming procedure.
